STYLE GURU STYLE: Keeping it Simple

Simplicity is key. Just ask Diane von Furstenberg, who showed off her effortless pieces at her spring 2016 runway show. Diane explained how she used her show to celebrate nature and beauty. With the use of lightweight fabrics, pops of color and everyday silhouettes this collection is perfect for the everyday woman. Often in high fashion, many pieces can not be worn around town, to work, etc. Diane von Furstenberg ensures that her pieces appeal to a larger audience.

I took inspiration from the elegant but casual trend throughout the runway show. In tribute to this trend, I chose a white romper with a high neckline and cutout details. Due to the extremely hot weather in New York, this romper is practical and stylish. I added dimension to my look by adding a brown braided belt that complements my brown sandals and brown purse. The belt not only adds a relaxed vibe but also brings the whole look together.

For my jewelry, I kept it simple and stuck with a classic pair of pearl earrings. Due to the high neckline of this romper a necklace was not necessary. The neckline of the romper is so detailed it was important to let that make a statement on its own. The shoe possibilities for this outfit were endless. For a daytime look, I stuck with brown braided sandals. These sandals can easily be substituted for heels if you want to change the look from day to night or simply dress up the outfit. My brown Michael Kors bag is my favorite accessory I own. It’s size is perfect for holding everything I need and it is extremely stylish at the same time. Overall, I believe it is essential to combine style with comfort and practicality just as Diane von Furstenberg has.

Get My Look: 1. A casual romper. 2. Brown sandals. 3. A statement bag.
