While fashion week has long been over with and designers have began preparing for next year’s lines, the influence of the summer’s latest designs are present in Fashionistas’ outfits all across Chicago. Alberta Ferretti’s resort 2016 line embraces this vacation-esque, “resort” look by focusing on two classic styles: the minimal and the maximal. She incorporates safari-inspired looks while contrasting them with clean-cut, simplistic and neutral jumpsuits and pantsuits. Alberta Ferretti’s newest line radiates romance and free spirit, while remaining true to her brand and providing perfect pieces for this season’s festivities.
For my look, I channeled one of my personal favorites from Alberta Ferretti’s Resort 2016 collection: a classic jumpsuit with a plunging neckline. With my black jumpsuit, faux fur vest, chunky heels and cream, tasseled handbag, I mirror the collection’s overall neutral color scheme. To make it my own, I altered the look they created slightly so that it was more versatile to the temperatures of seasons other than summer—as many Chicagoans know, the weather can get pretty unpredictable. While choosing a sleeveless jumpsuit and sunglasses to play up the summery look, the fur vest created a cooler look that could be used well into the fall and winter months, as well. My favorite part of this look, though, is my cherry red lipstick. I’m a devout believer of red lipstick and can attest to the fact that it can and will completely change an outfit. This slight pop of color adds an elegant yet sultry vibe to even the most basic of outfits. This easy addition, along with my heels, handbag and simple jewelry, are the perfect accessories to complement my black jumpsuit.
When creating a runway-inspired look, remember that you are always able to (and should!) add your own personal touches. Seeing new collections for the first time is a great way to become inspired by many amazing designers and allows you to mix and match your favorite designs to create a look that is all your own.
