STYLE GURU STYLE: It’s All About The Patterns

Your favorite latte, freshly squeezed orange juice and Belgian waffles topped with whipped cream and fresh berries—am I making you hungry yet? To me, the weekend is meant for going on a cute brunch date with your best friends. It is hard to find something cute and chic that is not too hot for the summertime. Try looking fresh and feminine in a cute summer tunic. Tunics are very light and easy to style. The patterns on this particular tunic work together to make the piece look boho and chic.

One particular collection that caught my eye this season is Giambattista Valli’s resort 2017 collection. Patterns and florals are the reoccurring theme in this collection, they are mixed and matched on each piece to create an elegant, yet relaxed, resort look. Many of the looks in the show are outfits that you could take from day to night. This is a true resort collection that featured pieces such as pants, jackets, long dresses, short dresses, skirts and everything in between. The looks that stand out to me the most are the pieces that feature tunics. Tunics have been around since the ancient Roman days—they are like the classic red lipstick or little black dress; although the style and era around it changes, it still manages to retain its fixed state of classic beauty and chicness.

To channel the idea of Giambattista Valli’s formal, yet easy resort attire, I decided to wear a tunic that mends two patterns together into a boho-chic and easy-to-wear piece. The silhouette of the tunic also made my look very whimsical and feminine. It was easy to accessorize this piece with a small amount of jewelry and a taupe cross-body bag for on the go purposes. I let the tunic be the star of the look with mostly natural makeup and straight hair. This goes to show that dressing up can be easy and comfortable while staying classic and elegant.
