STYLE GURU STYLE: High Necklines, Loose Fit

Isabel Marant’s pre-fall 2016 collection is full of high necklines, lose fitting garments, and texture. Madewell’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection has this same type of vibe. This collection is a lot more relaxed, functional and “ready-to-wear.” However, the garments in this collection are as chic as ever.

This winter, the weather has been rather unpredictable. This makes choosing an outfit more complicated than usual. On this particular day, it was extremely windy, but warm for March in central Pennsylvania. Due to this odd mix of weather, layering is crucial for my everyday outfit. This loose fitting Ralph Lauren zip-up flannel is the perfect solution for a warm day with on and off wind gusts.

My closet is stocked with flannels and light sweaters that I can use to mix and match with different T-shirts and tank tops. When I’m running from class to class, I need an outfit that is functional, yet stylish. I’m a huge fan of this Free People tank top in particular. It’s light and flow, but it’s a versatile piece that I can use for any casual outfit. For instance, the high neckline allows it to have so many functions. I’ve worn it out on weekends, classes, errands and the list goes on. Clearly, its uses are unlimited.

Both Isabel Marant’s and Madewell’s collections were strong, cohesive collections that showcased an ease of wearing clothing in a way you can feel comfortable and fashionable.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of khaki jeans. 2. A pair of Frye boots. 3. Any high neck tank top. 4. A flannel shirt.
