STYLE GURU STYLE: Havana Good Time

Stella McCartney’s resort 2016 attempts to take the viewers to a country known for their music, optimism, sugar exports and tropical paradise with palm fringed sandy beaches. This country being Cuba. This collection is made up of everything from monochromatic ensembles to citrus-hued and flower adorned pieces. The collection featured tailored shirt dresses and lively, colorful, voluminous gowns as well as a couple of different variations of the pantsuit.

Stella McCartney inspired me to find something that resembled Resort 2016 and various aspects of this collection on a college budget. I styled myself with a printed button-down shirt dress with an angled collar and short sleeves with darted sides. The button-down and subtle flare at the bottom makes the dress a versatile piece that can transition nicely throughout the day’s activities.

I paired the dress with a silver chain statement necklace to give the outfit a little more excitement. Since I can’t leave the house without earrings, I opted for silver-toned earrings which gave a subtle effect. Lastly, I decided to go with a pair of black ankle boots which happen to be my go-to shoes. This specific pair has a stacked heel with cut-away sides and although near their retirement stage, they still accompany me in putting this outfit together.

With Stella McCartney’s inspiration and my own flare, I put together this versatile, effortless and comfortable outfit to last me from day to night.
