STYLE GURU STYLE: Hasta La Vista

Last week I tearfully packed up my suitcase, gathered my new fashionable finds and headed towards Barcelona’s El Prat Airport for my return back to reality. This week I will head back to my campus in Ohio and say goodbye to the beautiful East Coast for the semester. It feels like summer is racing to its finish and I’m not quite sure how I feel about that. I am, however, still hanging on as far as clothing is concerned. This week, Fashionistas and Fashionistos, I bring you my last bit of Spain-inspired summer stylings (because I am not giving up just yet)!

I found Blumarine’s resort 2016 show to be absolutely inspiring. The breathy colors, sheer laces and embroidered details nearly had me drooling over my keyboard as I scrolled through each of the looks. My favorite, however, was this amazing maxi from the show! The fabric looks lighter than air and the color (or lack of) makes for a beautiful blank canvas for some fun accessories. I did just that in my styling of a similar look.

I started with a breezy tea length dress that I found at an amazing little boutique in Mallorca. I absolutely love its simplicity and the detail of the lacy sash that cinches nicely at the waist. Another plus? It can also be worn as a maxi skirt and this color can make anyone look tan! I wore this outfit for one of my last nights out in Spain and think it worked perfectly with the ever present heat, humidity and occasional ocean breeze on the boardwalk.

Since the dress was so simple, I decided that adding more jewelry would be very fun. I opted for a giant statement necklace and matching pearl bracelet along with my favorite pair of dangly gold earrings. I always prefer gold in the summer—it looks so stunning on bronzed skin! As for shoes, I chose a metallic block heel. They’re perfect for any party but are still super comfortable, which is important since going anywhere here involved a walk. This look is one of my favorite outfits of the summer. Here’s hoping that fall will be just as fun, fashionable and liberating!

Get My Look: 1. A breezy dress. 2. BIG jewelry. 3. Block heels! 4. A matching bag.
