STYLE GURU STYLE: Harem Pants

Let’s be real—even though any Fashionista would kill for a pair of Balmain leather skinnies, all we really want to be is comfortable. While although beyond trendy, I will be the first to admit that skin tight leather pants are not ideal for day to day life. Our society has become dominated by yoga pants, leggings and workout apparel—no complaints, right? However, every now and then introducing new items to your everyday wardrobe is just what the Style Guru ordered. This season, harem pants have managed to slip into trend forecast.

Chanel, the original gangster of Parisian-chic, keened in on the harem and printed pant trend in their resort 2015 collection. While although the pieces featured in the line may not be as practical for every day life as my favorite Sevilla, Spain summer find (black harem pants), they are a source of pure muse. I am head over heels for the way all of the resort looks give off a boho inspired, incredibly classy vibe when paired with matching blazers or glam structured tops.

I hope that my wardrobe will one day evolve into parisian, boho chic madhouse, but until then, taking inspiration from couture lines like Chanel and translating it into my everyday life will have to do. I did so this week by sporting a pair of black harem pants and a simple white crop top. The look would not be complete without a pop of color and pattern so I turned to this Missoni cardigan to tie around my waist. Tying sweaters or button downs around your waist not only adds a unique touch, it also accentuates the waist to flatter your figure.

Many argue that nothing could ever be more comfortable than a pair of leggings until they have experienced the fit of a harem pant. Harem pants can be worn high-waisted, below the hips and even folded over to fit to any body type. They come is endless colors, patterns and styles which makes them all the more addicting. These pants are not only heavenly in texture, they can also be transformed for any style, any trend and any occasion.

This look is perfect for running errands or going from class to class. The chicness of the pants keeps the functional look on point and on trend. Wear harem pants all day this summer with sandals for casual occasions, with flats for a more sophisticated look or paired with wedges for a night out.
