STYLE GURU STYLE: Grunge And Goodwill

June 26th, 2015 at 2:05am

What’s casual, chic and grungy all over? Marques Almeida’s “special denim” collection is your answer. Though the idea of “grunge” has been around for a few decades, Marques Almeida has taken this concept and created her own way of viewing it. I fell in love with the neutral color scheme for her fall 2015 collection and began mirroring my own wardrobe off of this whimsical type of look. Almeida does an excellent job with taking a rough look and adding a delicate touch of femininity, creating a runway to street type of fashion. For someone who does not enjoy the art of jeans, she sure does a pristine job at creating a rather memorable denim collection.

Though everything is continuously changing in the wonderful world of fashion, the lack of income for your average college student remains the same. Thankfully, high fashion looks are becoming easier to recreate without a high fashion budget. I started with a neutral top and paired it with a pair of high-waisted distressed jeans. The skinny straps, muted color scheme and showing just the right amount of skin appeals to Marques Almeida’s special denim collection. To accessorize this look, I put on my Clarks and added a choker necklace to enhance the slight ’90s feel this look provides. After lining my lips and putting on a cinnamon color lipstick, I tied my favorite Goodwill flannel around my waist as the cherry on top.

Get My Look: 1. Gray, cropped tank top. 2. Distressed boyfriend jeans. 3. Choker necklace.
