STYLE GURU STYLE: Groovy ’70s

Of all the spring 2015 trends, the ’70s trend is my absolute favorite. If I could dress in suede  and white flowing peasant tops every single day, trust me, I would. Well, I kind of do that already. So it came to no surprise that I fell in love with the Chloé spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. It embodies the whole ’70s vibe while still feeling modern. There were beautiful dresses in white and mustard adorned with lace. Denim jumpsuits and rompers graced the runway. Suede and delicate blouses were in abundance. The collection was something out of a ’70s dream.

I didn’t want to look like I stepped right out of the runway show, so I chose key elements of the collection and put my own signature style into it. Taking inspiration from the collection, I wore a white flowing blouse that tied at the neck. I noticed that the tie at the neck came up a couple of times in some of the tops throughout the line. Denim can be seen all over this collection, so I thought it would be nice to wear some. To give the trend my own twist, I paired the white blouse with some distressed boyfriend jeans. By wearing the boyfriend jeans, it gives the look a little more of an edge to it. In most of the looks, a tan gladiator sandal is worn. I kept the tan color, but opted for some western styled booties by the lovely Jeffrey Campbell. I kept accessories simple, as I wanted the outfit to speak for itself.

The ’70s trend is an easy one to take inspiration from. You can choose a suede mini skirt or a lacy dress and pair it with other styles or trends. Either way, I hope this groovy trend is here to stay because I am all for it!
