Fur, fall and winter’s hottest trend, has been all over the runways these past couple years. Not only will you see it on the runway, such as in BCBGMAXAZRIA’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection, but also on the streets. This collection puts an emphasis on fur as outwear, displaying multiple ways it can be worn. Each model exhibits the trend in different approaches such as a scarf, hand warmer, coat and even a trim. With a lot of controversy these days concerning animal cruelty, faux fur is a more sustainable and affordable option, leaving less of a dent in your wallet and the earth. You can just as easily find faux fur in different pieces, colors and lengths.
I decided to bring this runway style to the streets as an accessory. I took out one of my favorite statement pieces, my faux fur scarf, which can be worn as a scarf or a collar attachment. The fur gives my down midi coat some much needed detail. I love how a small addition of fur can turn a casual look into a runway look. With a mainly black ensemble, I went with a leopard sweater dress for a pop of print. To balance my outfit’s soft, chic look I paired black leather riding boots. If you look closely you can spot my leather-banded vintage watch.
