STYLE GURU STYLE: Free-Flowing Florals

Loose-fitting trousers, long-line kimonos and slip dresses are all the ingredients for the perfect waterside wardrobe. These pieces are staples for me during the summer. While it is nice to pay attention to structural detail, I love changing up my style during the warmer months with softer silhouettes.

Taking inspiration from the Calvin Klein spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I combined flowing and structured pieces, which seems to be the recurring motif for Klein throughout the collection. I chose to stick to the same color palette he used of black, dark blue, off-white and tan. I also drew inspiration from the Céline spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, which also featured a blend of soft and structured silhouettes.

My outfit featured a black ribbed tank top tucked into black floral trousers. To add more texture and color to the look, I wore a long-line denim jacket and strappy leather sandals.

In order to make the look my own, I chose to use the color palette from both collections in different areas of my outfit. I decided to keep the central pieces of the outfit dark while adding a pop of color with the denim jacket, keeping the focus on the various designs and textures present.

The juxtaposition of flowing fabrics in the summer breeze with the faintly structured lines of a light jacket will always be one of my favorite summer trends. To add a little bit more of my personal style to the look, I decided to sport my signature gold detailing of a round face watch and my name necklace.

Get My Look: 1. Long line trench or kimono. 2. Dark floral trousers. 3. Loose fitting tank.
