STYLE GURU STYLE: Flowers Galore

Some fashion designers have already displayed their pre-fall 2015 collection, and Valentino is not one to be left behind. Patterns have become a standard for this particular season, with floral prints, embroidery, and even (cue gasp) Khaki making a comeback in some cases. While some of it may or may not work for everyone, I think you cannot go wrong with a simple floral print this winter.

One of my concerns whilst wearing floral is whether I would look frumpy. I wouldn’t want anyone to think I raided my grandmother’s closet. However, I don’t really worry about it when I am wearing a fitted dress like this. For fall weather, the dress itself would be enough. This January try this trend early, but remember that an additional sweater is essential. I paired it with a thick sweater (another trend on the runway—loose-fitting, textured outerwear) to stay warm, along with tights and sturdy boots.

This dreary winter, add some colour to your wardrobe with some flower power. It is feminine, easy to wear and can be paired with a neutral colour if you are not an expert at matching patterns. For an everyday look, I would focus on the one item abundant in colour and texture. Keep it simple and uncluttered, but if you really want to add more, add some accessories—like a long necklace. With a statement piece like that, I would also keep the make-up minimal. A little blush and eyeliner go a long way, and touch-ups are effortless.

Get My Look: 1. A fitted floral dress. 2. Black eyeliner. 3. An oversized versatile sweater.
