STYLE GURU STYLE: Floral And Denim

As much as I love fashion, the truth is that it’s hard to keep up when you are on a student budget. In reality, my shopping sprees are mostly limited to window shopping until the end of the month. However, when I do save those extra bucks, I love to get something that reflects the latest trends. Where do I get my wishlist ideas from? My most recent inspiration was the J.Crew spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The models on the runway sported everything from a Latin American vibe to menswear-inspired looks. But J.Crew never fails to present that edgy and modern feel to their clothing. I was drawn to a specific style from the collection, where the model wore loose capri pants and a denim shirt. I liked this particular style because it looked effortless and stylish. Also, I think it was very smart to accessorize with more colorful items like the multicolored metallic handbag and blue and yellow high heeled sandals.

After checking my limited budget, I decided to do one of my favorite things in the world, online shopping! I loved the denim portion of the collection, so I bought a button-down denim shirt. Today, I had a coffee date planned with a friend I had not seen in a while, and I decided to use my new item for the first time. Inspired by the look I previously mentioned, I decided to use denim and black as the base for my outfit. Also, I thought it would be nice to use the color aspect of the original look. I wore a bright floral top with my button-down shirt over it, black high-waisted pants and nude heels. To complete the look, I used a red clutch and a peached colored bracelet.

I think this spring 2015 show reminded me that you could get a great look by mixing unexpected items. It also showed me the difference a little bit of color can make and just how easy it is to achieve this. I’m definitely going to apply this to future looks, and I hope I can get many other ideas from this collection.
