STYLE GURU STYLE: Distressed Denim

I can’t believe we’re finally at the end of summer and preparing ourselves to go back to school! With the impending end near, I wanted to take advantage of the few days I have left by getting together with all of my girls for a trip to Vegas! I think the combination of a denim jacket with strapped wedges makes an otherwise dull outfit come to life in a city that is always thriving. I didn’t want to be too dressy for a brunch, but in the city that never sleeps it is not acceptable to be dressed for less than the best.

There are very few things that are quite as cool as looking slightly distressed but still ridiculously pulled together. This is why I absolutely love distressed denim; it’s a twist on a classic look. Denim was seen in numerous designer’s collections on the runway this season and I surprisingly found my inspiration from Balenciagas’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The collection throws together larger purses and jackets with colorful pieces. A larger jacket really adds to the outfit by dressing it down while the clutch and heels make it brunch acceptable. If you would rather go for a more understated look, I would suggest an oversized jacket instead of distressed denim. While a distressed jacket is edgier, classic denim would be more acceptable for a more elegant location. Lucky for me, Vegas is too expensive to attend the fancier restaurants!

The choker and rings are a great last addition to add jewelry to the outfit. Although I typically never leave the house without a bright shade of lipstick, I opted for a neutral gloss to stick with the cooler shades of the shoes and jacket. All of these pieces come together to create a feminine look that is easily replicated and quite comfortable too!

Get My Look: 1. A oversized denim jacket. 2. Neutral strapped wedges. 3. A mid-length tube dress.
