STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim is Old But New Again

While I was out shopping in the beginning of summer, I picked up a denim skirt. My mom looked at me and said, “Since when did those come back in style?” If we really think about it, everything always comes back around and becomes on-trend. For example, the flared jeans take us back to the disco days of the ’70s. The high-waisted bathing suit bottoms take us back to the ’50s and ’60s. And, of course, the mini denim skirt that I purchased at Abercrombie when I was in middle school—talk about a throwback!  So really we should thank the previous generations for giving us amazing pieces in fashion that we all know and love. Don’t count trendy pieces out because everything always comes back around. Trust me you’ll regret it when you see it on-trend!

It is always fun to see the trends on the runway. The one show that really caught my eye was the Madewell spring 2016 ready-to-wear. I absolutely love every piece in the collection. Their collection mirrored my wardrobe. I was very inspired, and it gave me new ideas on how to style my pieces that I have as a Fashionista. Whether it is a simple jean jacket, a trendy jump suit or simple skinnies, the Madewell collection really represents my style. The feel of the collection is very bohemian and effortless and I am all about effortless chic. Their collection showed basics that have the ability to be dressed up. All the pieces had a simple, but at the same time, vintage touch with all neutral colors. A Fashionista having the simplest piece can easily turn it into one amazing outfit!

For my look, I wanted to be chic and all about the boho. The focus of my outfit was denim. That is really what stood out the most from the collection. My denim skirt is not the classic denim skirt—it has a fitted look with a scallop trim. Denim is so on-trend this summer, and will probably never go out of style. If a Fashionista is ever unsure about an outfit, denim is always the way to go. Since my skirt was simple, I wore a strapless top with crochet trim. Under my top, I did a neutral lace bralette. A bralette is my go-to during the summer. They are so simple and at the same time fashion forward. To finish off my look, I did my favorite lace-up sandals. With my accessories, I wore my beaded bracelets, along with a beaded necklace. Wearing this outfit, I definitely felt like I could be on the runway! For all the Fashionistas out there, check out the runway because there are amazing trends out there!
