STYLE GURU STYLE: Colored Structures

Being a color-lover myself, I was impressed and re-inspired by Delpozo’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Delpozo mixed edge and grace with highly structured pieces that still managed to float down the runway. The vibrant hues of red, yellow, green and orange reminded me that spring is indeed the season of many colors. So why not draw inspiration from it? With the perfect mélange of color, geometric cuts, edge and prints, Delpozo proves that there’s more to the warmer weather than the typical summer dress.

For my look, I decided to go all out with colors and color-blocking. I paired a structured ankara (African print) skater skirt with a plain, sheer yellow spaghetti blouse. Red is one of my favorite colors to wear because it automatically makes everything (seriously, everything) look more sophisticated. Thus, I rocked my ensemble with a classic red lip, my structured Segolene en Cuir purse and my Me Too red flats. I kept the jewelry minimal with a pair of hand-made Swarovski earrings and a pair of cat-eye sunglasses. This look is perfect for a day out with friendsor bae.

I understand that matching colors could be intimidating because there’s an extra thin line between pulling off a look and looking like a complete clown. However, practice makes perfect. This season, the runways are flooded with different ideas on how to combine colors, so fear not! Give it a try. After all, summer has just begun.

Get My Look: 1. A print skirt. 2. A yellow blouse. 3. A structured, colored purse.
