STYLE GURU STYLE: College Confidence

I cannot believe that I have started my last semester here at the University of Rhode Island. Throughout my four years here, I have met so many incredible people, expanded my mind, and learned so much. But most importantly, I learned a lot about myself and became a more confident woman overall. Although I will be sad to leave, I am ready to delve into the fashion industry full speed ahead to start a new chapter of my life.

Along with self-confidence comes a powerful wardrobe. I believe that self-confidence is the best outfit. It’s important to me to remain unique in all aspects of life, but most importantly when it comes to fashion. Each outfit I choose usually has an eye-catching element. I always keep this quote by the iconic Anna Wintour in the back of my mind when choosing an outfit, “create your own style, let it be unique for yourself, and identifiable for others.” Fashion has no limits and it is important to be bold. The look I am wearing here does just that!

This show stopping geo-patterned coat is for sure to make a bold statement. I paired it with a plain black T-shirt and destroyed denim that it DIY’d myself to grunge-up a simple pair of jeans. Everyone loves a great pair of booties, and they are a wardrobe staple right now. The Kanye West inspired sock boot is becoming hugely popular after he debuted this look in his Yeezy collection. Here I am rocking the sock boot trend in a sleek, crushed velvet material. I accessorized with a metallic envelope clutch by Rebecca Minkoff, a chunky leather belt, and lastly, my bohemian beaded Forever Young Bracelets which I never take off.

All of these different pieces come together and create one cohesive look; a look that is a reflection of my life  up until this point. My life experiences throughout college have definitely been a wild ride and not always the smoothest, but they have shaped me into the woman I am today. With my new found confidence and an eclectic outfit, I feel as if I could conquer the world!
