STYLE GURU STYLE: Brooklyn Meets Bluegrass

See ya, New York! North Carolina, I’m back! These last few months have flown by, but I’m definitely all ready to embrace the North Carolina sunshine while heading back to Elon University. If you know me, you know that I love to talk about the style differences that exist  between the two states I call home. If comparing the two, I’d definitely say that the style of a New Yorker (mine included!) is absolutely more edgy, where, from what I’ve seen, North Carolinians tend to channel more hippie, bohemian vibes—think Brooklyn meets bluegrass!

I tried to channel some of the bohemian North Carolina style this week, inspired by the flowy silhouettes and playful, bright patterns of the clothing featured in the latest alice + olivia Resort 2016 line. I donned a brightly patterned dress with a super loose fit in hopes that I’d be able to fit in in the southern sunshine! The near tie-dye pattern of the dress gives this outfit a chill factor that is through the roof and the strappy bohemian sandals definitely help to give off some seriously laid back vibes.

To top this outfit off, try adding a hint of rosy lipstick when accessorizing your look; the subtle pink color will help to give you that dewy, and etherial, appearance. Add a touch of bronzer to your cheeks to give you that summertime glow—a necessary step in faking the touch of the Southern sunshine.

Get My Look: 1. A patterned, flowy dress. 2. Ankle strap sandals. 3. MAC Lipstick in Twig.
