STYLE GURU STYLE: Boho Babe

The transition from summer to fall allows for endless style possibilities. The immense August heat is finally starting to cool down, which makes it easier to incorporate our favorite fall pieces during these final weeks of summer. Although we’ll soon have to trade weekends at the beach for weekends at the library, trying out new styles makes going back to school a bit more bearable.

The Anna Sui resort 2016 collection successfully demonstrates the mix between summer and fall pieces; the ideal combination for back-to-school looks. Throughout her designs, we can see the blend of the sweet of summer with the grungy patterns and attitude of fall. Taking inspiration from this collection, I paired a charcoal peasant top with a flowy chiffon floral skirt. To achieve the contrast of styles present in Sui’s designs, I finished the look with a pair of black booties–my go-to pair of shoes in the fall and winter months.

Sticking with a darker color palette allows for an easy transition into your fall wardrobe. Sui includes various chiffon and organza dresses, and adds a bit of edge to these looks with light knits and statement combat boots. Similarly, I opted for lighter materials to keep some of the summer vibes, but kept some of the grunge inspiration with simple dark patterns and boots rather than sandals. This September, take a note from Anna Sui’s resort 2016 collection and make use of both your summer and fall wardrobes.
