STYLE GURU STYLE: Bohemian Beauty

What’s the best part about traveling? There’s seeing new places, meeting new people, learning from new cultures and trying new foods. My all-time favorite, however, is being a free spirit. Explore without a map and take pictures of what you find. Believe it or not, there are tons of things you can find when you are not looking for them. This week, I went to San Francisco. It wasn’t my first time there, but it sure was different than the last time I went. I learned to appreciate the beauty that surrounded me in this beautiful city and I enjoyed every minute of it. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious and the sights were mesmerizing. Being able to showcase my sense of style was also super fun.

Free-spirited and all, I still had to find my inspiration for the look I wanted to portray. Roberto Cavalli’s resort 2016 collection was my inspiration for this outfit. As I have mentioned in some of my past articles, my style is usually characterized by a mixture of a few different styles. On the other hand, if I had to choose, the style that I identify with the most is bohemian. Roberto Cavalli’s collection features a ‘70s vibe, with printed denim jackets and pants, silk blouses and long dresses. As I scrolled through the pictures, each look was more and more inspiring. This collection perfectly portrayed that free spirit and bohemian edge that I was looking for.

I took the idea of the printed jeans and the ‘70s vibe and opted for a white crop top, printed denim shorts, gladiator sandals, a felt panama hat, a statement necklace and round sunglasses. I think that the printed shorts, the felt Panama hat and the statement necklace were the key elements of my outfit. The denim, printed shorts give a more fun tone to the whole look that plain denim shorts could not. As someone who likes fun colors and prints, I believe that theses shorts are a staple piece in my wardrobe because they demonstrate my personality a lot more than other pieces.

The felt hat is also one of my favorite pieces from my closet. It gives a nice bohemian edge to the outfit and it goes perfectly with my summer mantra, “the bolder the better.” Along with the felt hat, the statement necklace that I chose to wear ties the whole ensemble together nicely. It keeps the bohemian vibe and adds more vibrant colors.

When choosing which pieces to wear, I was pretty conscientious because I was afraid or wasn’t brave enough to try new things. I’ve come to realize that bohemian style is my favorite because it is bold yet keeps that feminine touch that captures my personality.

Get My Look: 1. A white crop top. 2. Printed denim shorts. 3. Gladiator sandals. 4. A felt panama hat. 5. A statement necklace.
