STYLE GURU STYLE: Blanket Scarf Heaven

Within seconds of viewing the recent fall 2015 ready-to-wear runway show from Joseph, I fell in love. The entire feel of the collection was warmth, and there were plenty imitations of blankets. When the temperatures are consistently below freezing, who doesn’t want to walk around with their blanket all day? Joseph captured that secret desire we all have and turned it into fashion. Each ensemble looks extremely cozy and soft. A form-fitting look is sacrificed to fully capture the loose, flowing fit a blanket would create. This collection goes to show that comfortability can also be high fashion, which is every college girl’s ultimate dream.

This runway show seriously inspired me to create a blanket-esque look without taking it too literally. The blanket scarf, an accessory that is becoming a staple in every female’s closet, is the perfect campus-friendly interpretation of this trend. I chose one that has a lot of the darker colors featured in the runway show. My neck was so incredibly warm; I truly felt like I was wearing a blanket around my neck. I chose to pair the scarf with a light gray top and navy leggings. The looks featured in the runway show were simple in design and color, so I decided to emulate that. My white peacoat followed suit to accent the lighter tones in the scarf. I wore very little jewelry to keep the look minimal. I completed the outfit with my black Hunter Boots and white tall socks. Again, keeping everything quite simple just like Joseph did.

This fall 2015 show taught me that warmth can also be high fashion. I am in love with this trend, and I plan on incorporating it into my everyday style for the rest of the winter season.

Get My Look: 1. A blanket scarf. 2. A basic long sleeve top. 3. A pair of leggings. 4. A peacoat.
