STYLE GURU STYLE: Black it Up

The Elizabeth & James pre-fall 2015 collection featured my three favorite current fashion trends: all-black, minimalism and bohemian flare. Suffice to say, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen killed it yet again with their clean and modern clothing line that has achieved the perfect mix of femininity and sportiness.

The line was predominately black with hints of midnight navy throughout, incorporating the influence of sport into the mix with clean racerback silhouettes, paired exclusively with white sneakers.

Taking a shot at this look myself, I was particularity inspired by the simplistic look of wearing all one color, the sporty aspect of a racerback tank and the slight bohemian features like fringe and lace that made the looks stand out from their minimalist counterparts.

I decided to go with a one piece all-black jumpsuit that is simple at first glance, but has an intricate lace racerback detail from behind. Pairing it with simple gold jewelry like my staple initial necklace and sunglasses, I was able to achieve the mix of sportiness yet femininity that the line was emphasizing.

To tailor the look to my own more feminine tastes, I swapped the sneakers out for a pair of black heels and found a romper that had the option of a defined waist. Having a drawstring also plays into the sportier look, but allows for definition when desired.

Never be afraid to wear all one color, especially black. It always appears put together and adding little statements goes a long way to make the look unforgettable and your own.

Get My Look: 1. A black jumpsuit with lace detail. 2. Cutout black heels. 3. An initial necklace.
