STYLE GURU STYLE: Black and Being You

Atelier Versace’s spring 2015 couture show inspired me. Her idea this season, as she put it, was “to go back to the shape of a woman’s body, which is curvy.” The color palette was a mix of black, white, red and royal blue. There were mini dresses, knee-high boots and gorgeous evening gowns. An interesting twist to the evening gowns was the intricate, mesh detailing on each dress. I admired this line because of the emphasis they put on making the shape of a woman’s body the main focus. Each woman is different and unique in their own way. I believe that Versace captured each woman’s beauty and shape in all of these looks.

I fell in love with Look One, a beautiful black taileur. I adore the head-to-toe black look. I have a black top that worked perfectly to recreate this look. I enjoy trying on different pieces to generate something similar. It is even more fun to put my own twist on a look that I see on the runway.

I chose not to wear all black because I wanted to have a more casual look for daytime. This look can easily look more dressed up by wearing black pants. I paired a pair of dark wash jeans instead of black pants. I then chose to wear a pair of leather booties. I decided to add my own flair to the outfit by adding different accessories. I picked a suede, light brown hat with a black ribbon. I also added a black and gold Juicy Couture watch. Finally, to complete the look, I selected a kate spade new york light brown, leather cross-body bag from my bag collection.

Get My Look: 1. Black top 2. Dark wash jeans 3. A leather, cross-body bag.
