STYLE GURU STYLE: Beautifully Basic

Hearing the words “high fashion” often conjures an image of extremely expensive and ultimately unattainable clothing fit for only those who are lucky enough to be part of the exclusive fashion world. Yet 6397’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection shows that an outfit as basic as a pair of blue jeans and a white T-shirt can too be considered high fashion.

Lately, my fashion goals include being comfortable while still looking presentable. I also try to wear versatile clothes that can be acceptable for different occasions and easily transformed from day to night. The entirety of 6397’s collection shows that basics are perfect for the type of look I’ve been searching for.

The jeans worn in the first few looks are faded, but not distressed. I decided to take this up a level by wearing faded, destroyed boyfriend jeans. The ones I chose sit low along your hips, which is different from the high-waisted jeans I usually wear but infinitely more comfortable. Additionally, the models in 6397’s collection wear standard white T-shirts. I chose to wear a vintage cropped white T-shirt with ruffles along the edges that once belonged to my mother.

Simple white or black sneakers complete most of the looks in the collection. I threw on a pair of white patterned Converse to tie the white of my shirt and the white of my shoes together.

The looks in the collection are completely devoid of accessories, staying true to the desired look of simplicity. However, I felt that adding some accessories was necessary. I finish my rendition of 6397’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection by adding a choker and a long pendant necklace, as well as a watch and a small bracelet.

Get My Look: 1. Brandy Melville boyfriend jeans. 2. Cropped white T-shirt. 3. White Converse sneakers.
