STYLE GURU STYLE: Be My Valentino?

I don’t know about you, but the first time I had heard about and saw designs from Valentino, I had about nearly died and went to fashion heaven. I remember lying in bed at night and just dreaming about the dresses I saw on the runway and thinking that they were the most beautiful things I had ever seen. Everything about them screamed grace and beauty. I had made it one of my life goals to wear one of those dresses. Though I have yet to reach this goal, I have come to incorporate a lot of the elements that Valentino dresses are known for, like the extravagant and intricate embroidering, in my everyday wardrobe.

In the Valentino spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection there were colorful dresses with prints of vivid flowers, intricate antique-like patterns, arabesque forms and prints and beading of starfish, snails, shellfish and sailing ships. Much like many of Valentino’s collections, it screams elegance, grace and beauty.

With this look, I was inspired by the beading that is seen in many of Valentino’s dresses and took the trend from runway to everyday wear. I combined my favorite pair of everyday Zara jeans with this gray T-shirt, which has a little twist to it. The strategically placed beading on the shirt pushes it away from being another simple gray V-neck and adds a level of elegance and class, which was the aspect that reminded me a lot of the Valentino collection.  Another reason why I fell in love with this H&M T-shirt was because it can easily be dressed down and up. In this case, I dressed it down with jeans and my go-to gray ASOS boots that have the heel cut out.

To finish off the look, I just threw on my everyday Ray-Ban sunglasses and some MAC lipstick in the shade “Full Fuchsia.” I added this lip color to incorporate some color into the look as well as because this color was seen all throughout the Valentino spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection.
