STYLE GURU STYLE: Be Bright, Be You And Go Boho

Recently I discovered the Etro spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The casual, light style of the collection caught my eye instantly. I absolutely loved all of the layers, beads, feathers, braids, embellishments and fringe. Rather than the typical manicured runway look, these designs really felt handmade with a great bohemian energy. The accent colors, patterns and accessories of the collection created contrast against the basic earth tones and resulted in the perfect balance of elegant and lively. A lot of the looks included pieces that appeared worn, faded and matte, and I loved it! Etro really put a modern twist on the hippie style of the ’70s that is sure to be a hit in the upcoming spring season.

I’ve always preferred a down to earth style. For the most part, I wear neutral colors and liven up my look with accent pieces that are very eccentric and detailed—the more fringe the better! My boho flair is much more prominent in the summer months, but it can be easily converted into a winter appropriate style. Today, I’m cozy in a heavy knit poncho, skinny jeans, brown combat boots and gold tribal-style jewelry. I mixed up different styles of gold bracelets to add some variety to my accessories. The poncho has a hint of gold shimmer threaded throughout that adds a little extra glow when the sun is missing from the dreary winter sky. To further add to my boho look, I styled my hair in loose waves and kept my makeup light. I used neutral tones of eye shadow and minimal eyeliner.

This particular runway show really connected with my personal style and inspired me to be creative. Etro’s collection truly looks like art in my eyes. I cannot wait to break out my sandals and crop tops, but in the meantime, I hope to find more ways to incorporate bohemian style pieces that will keep me warm and fashionable in the remaining winter months.
