STYLE GURU STYLE: Basic Biker

As someone who’s hesitant to spend more than $20 on an item of clothing, putting $50 into this jacket was a difficult decision for me to make. I made that decision over four years ago, and I’m still just as enamored as ever with this item of clothing. Investing in a versatile and well-made piece is always worth the expense. Diesel Black Gold seems to have realized that in their spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The presence of the classic and in some cases, revamped, biker jacket in this collection brought it all together. Those who know the brand recognize this jacket style from previous collections, so in a sense, this style tied in the spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection with the brand as a whole. That’s a pretty impressive thing for one simple item of clothing to accomplish.

My biker jacket does a similar thing in my closet. Most of my clothing is on the darker side. I have a lot of navy, gray, black and other dark colors in my closet, and my jacket goes with all of it. If I’m too lazy to put together a decent outfit for the day, I just throw my jacket on top of a sweater and a pair of leggings. I wear it to class, to special events, on dates and I even wore it to prom once. Perhaps I could have bought more clothing with the $50 I spent on it, but I’ve certainly gotten the most out of the money I spent with this jacket.

Get My Look: 1. A basic black biker jacket. 2. A pair of dark wash jeggings. 3. Some buckled, heeled booties.
