STYLE GURU STYLE: Around the Block

During the spring and summer seasons, it seems that women are trading out their skinny six inch stilettos and instead, opting for chunk and block heels. Comfort is finally beating out the painful, but nonetheless fabulous, shoes that we take off after an hour at parties. It’s no secret that we emulate the celebrities’ street style. The celebrities, in turn, are translating looks directly from the runway into their own wardrobe. Many fashion shows have shown that the block heels are now the new stiletto including the TSA resort 2016 line. The heels in that collection were strappy but accompanied with a block and chunky heel.

What I enjoy most with this trend is the casual air it gives to an outfit. I love when women wear a dressy top, a skirt and then a pair of block heels. To me, it gives a refreshing and unpredictable look. This was exactly what I was aiming for in my outfit, minus the skirt and dressy top. I am all for neutrals, therefore I paired a beige, linen T-shirt with my favorite and most comfortable pair of black joggers. It happened to be a breezy day, so I threw a Levi Brand Jeans jacket on. I believe that jean jackets are another element that transform an outfit to casual. I have a sufficient collection of platform heels, stilettos and wedges. However, I favor my black block heels over all of them. For one, they are comfortable. Second, these shoes are extremely versatile. Like I said, they make everything look a little more effortless. Post earrings, simple makeup and a ponytail were all I needed to complete my look! You can most certainly put my look into your wardrobe!

Get My Look: 1. Block heels.  2. Jean jacket. 3. T-shirt.
