STYLE GURU STYLE: All-black Everything

Rachel Zoe once said, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak” and I find this quote to be very true and well said. I love rocking an all-black ensemble from head to toe because it’s flattering, alluring and timeless. The color is also like my best friend because it never disappoints. One of my favorite black pieces of clothing is a classic black leather jacket. This is a must-have in every woman’s closet because it’s perfect to wear for the spring, fall and the winter. It’s also comfortable, goes with pretty much anything and will keep you warm (until the snow falls).

Taking inspiration from the Diesel Black Gold pre-fall 2015 collection, I combined classic and grunge, which is exactly what creative director Andreas Melbostad was going for. Fall is my favorite season of all-time, and it reminds me of my favorite colors: black, olive green, navy blue, burgundy and camel. From this collection, I was mainly drawn to the studded leather motorcycle jackets. I really liked the color palette that Melbostad chose for the fall collection. He created a variety of beautiful pieces and used black, gray blue and burgundy colors to create looks that rocked a classy and punk style. Other pieces in the collection that stood out to me were the hip-length olive anorak and the burgundy tweed style jacket with the quilted black leather accents. I loved the olive anorak—it’s perfect to wear for the fall season, and you can wear it anytime anywhere. The burgundy jacket with the leather accents shows classy and grunge, which I also love. In this outfit, my goal was to create a grunge-chic style. To do this, I went for an all-black leather ensemble and added studded accessories.

My outfit includes a black American Apparel bodysuit tucked in into a black leather asymmetrical skirt featuring silver zippers on the sides. I also have on an H&M leather biker jacket to match with my skirt. To add to this grunge look, I wore my black Forever 21 sunglasses and studded bracelets. Although the color palette of my outfit is all-black with some silver, I decided to mix some gold toned colors into it by adding a black choker and two gold toned necklaces. To my feet, I wanted to add something special to this outfit so I wore my black cutout gladiator heels. Lastly, I added a pop of color with MAC’s Hang-Up lipstick.

Get My Look: 1. A black biker jacket. 2. A black bodysuit 3. A black leather skirt.
