STYLE GURU STYLE: Alexis Mabille

Happy New Year, Fashionistas/os! I hope 2016 is welcoming you with open arms. As for us down here in the South, those arms are not so warm. During this time of year, attempting to be fashionable is almost unheard of around college campuses. Folks are more so concerned with keeping warm. But as we see on the runway, layers are changing the fashion game!

Not only do layers keep you warm, but they make a strong fashion statement! A great and comfy way to layer this coming fall is shown here in Alexis Mabille’s pre-fall 2016 runway show. Mabille was all about subtle fits and daywear. One of the main things that drew my attention to this particular runway line was that Mabille created a mix between ready-to-wear pieces and couture pieces as well. Another eye-catcher in this collection is how Mabille made these pieces more affordable to attract a wider range of customers.

Even though Mabille has “lowered the price point” of his pre-fall 2016 collection, I made my own rendition of a collection piece. To capture this look, I took a denim collared shirt and placed it under a comfy and somewhat oversized sweater. Around the collar, I chose one of my favorite necklaces and placed it underneath the collar. My go-to black skinnies were also a must with my quilted black boots. Even though I chose to pair my sweater with pants instead of a skirt, the overall feel of the outfit still captured the perfect daytime winter outfit.

Get My Look: 1. Oversized sweater. 2. A collared shirt. 3. Black boots.
