STYLE GURU STYLE: Addicted To Love

January 20th, 2015 at 2:00am

The spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection from Tom Ford spoke to all eyeliner and leather loving, all-black everything wearers everywhere. The looks scream bad girl, and felt like Effy Stonem from Skins putting out a cigarette before going into a rock concert. The collection is filled with glamour, punk and sex appeal with no shortage of mesh, glitter and black on black on black. Sheer tights, ultra short mini skirts and dresses, metallic coats and pants, sky high platforms, cutouts, chokers and sparkly pasties were complemented with teased hair, smokey eyes, nude lips and nails and razor sharp cheekbones.

These bold looks fit right in with items I own and wear, so this show offered some serious inspiration and excitement for my spring wardrobe. I created a dark, going out look that is sexy and rock ‘n’ roll in a not so subtle way. Layering a long sleeve, black mesh top over a black bra, I wore my black thigh high socks, a wardrobe staple, with a simple, black mini skirt. I added my own vibe with a dark, acid-washed jacket with leather and stud embellishments and a simple velvet choker. I teased my hair lightly and lined my eyes with the blackest black eyeliner. I added a pretty pink lip for a girly touch. For a more comfortable feel, I opted for faux leather Chelsea boots instead of über high heels.

This show is a gentle reminder for us to keep our inner female rock god alive with daring looks and attitudes to match. Though I’m hanging out in a cemetery in this particularly moody photo, I kept this outfit on through the day and then wore it out on the town at night. I suggest you do the same!

Get My Look: 1. A long sleeve mesh top. 2. Thigh high socks that land just below a mini skirt hemline. 3. Eyeliner to smudge for a perfect smokey eye.
