STYLE GURU STYLE: A Trendy ‘Mid’-nute

When it comes to fashion, there are few things that I love more than a great bold print and any piece that doesn’t require me to wear pants. So when I spotted this midi skirt among Zara’s newest releases for fall, I instantly knew it would be the focus of my next outfit.

The midi—or shin length—skirt and dress trend has been red hot on the runway lately, finding its way into the collections of countless designers. Among these are one of my personal favorites, Dolce&Gabbana. As a avid connoisseur of bold printed clothes, this brand never fails to make my wildest print dreams come true. And what’s even better is that they seem to have caught onto the midi trend, too! Seen on nearly all of the skirts, dresses, and even outerwear in their fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection, it’s clear that the midi is here to stay.

To adapt this popular trend to my own style, I chose to balance this statement skirt with a plain white V-neck. Drawing on a few of this summer’s other trends, I rounded out my look with some red platform espadrilles and tied a bandana around my neck as a choker. Since I felt that both the skirt’s pattern and pops of red made enough of a statement on their own, I found it best to go jewelry-free with this look. Finally, I threw on a versatile pair of black sunglasses and was ready to go.
