STYLE GURU STYLE: A Touch of Color

When you live in a city where the weather is so unpredictable, your outfit choices have to be the same. One day I could be wearing shorts and a tank and the next day jeans and a jacket. On one of those cool days, I surfed through the internet and found the fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection of Madewell. A lot of the looks incorporated jeans and that is where I took my inspiration.

The Madewell collection has focused on denim in past years so I wasn’t surprised seeing a lot of denim incorporated into the line. In a few of the pieces of the collection there was ribbed knit, chunky knit and cotton fabrics. I translated that into my outfit by piecing a green knit sweater with black jeans.

Most of the outfits put together in the collection weren’t colorful. It was mostly neutral colors and dark denim. Which prompted me to opt for a black denim pant.  I paired a blue and green statement necklace just to give the outfit some much needed personality.  Most of the shoes in this ready-to-wear collection were black so I choose to wear my black platform sandal. I thought it was more fitting then a boot or closed toe shoe because it is summer. I finished my outfit with my favorite structured hat and my Steve Madden fringe purse. Although my purse is a different color then my sweater, I still loved it together because it gives my outfit a contrast.

Get My Look: 1. Platform sandals. 2. Jeans. 3. A  necklace.
