STYLE GURU STYLE: A Simple Statement

Summer is one of my favorite seasons mostly because of all the different types of shoes I can wear. As we all know, shoes are always one of the main attractions of our outfits. Usually when putting an outfit together, I always base my outfit on the shoes that I plan on wearing and then go from there. One of my favorite shoes this season would have to be gladiator sandals, if I could wear them out everyday I would.

My inspiration came from the Peter Pilotto resort 2016 collection. This collection caught my eye because not only did the outfits stand out but the shoes did, as well. The gladiator sandals in the collection are really unique and interesting. They range from ankle length to knee-high, embellished gladiator sandals. They don’t take away from the outfit, they make the outfit.

For my outfit, I wore a plain white V-neck T-shirt and some high-waisted jean shorts. I added a long black cardigan that would be cohesive with the sandals. I also tried not to over do it and add a lot of accessories so they wouldn’t take over the attention of the sandals, so I accessorized the outfit with a simple two strand gold necklace, a gold classic watch and a Alex and Ani bracelet.

By keeping the outfit simple, it helped keep the gladiator sandals as the main statement piece. I didn’t want the overall outfit to look like there was too much going on. Not only did I try to make keep the outfit look effortless, I wanted to make sure that it looked unique, different and really represented my style.

Get My Look: 1. Long, open cardigan. 2. Any plain V-neck T-shirt. 3. High-waisted shorts. 4. Gladiator sandals. 5. Simple gold necklace.
