STYLE GURU STYLE: A Midi-Summer Night's Dream

I love dresses and bright, simple makeup in the summer. With the rising temperatures, I like my outfits to be simple and keep me cool. I usually like short dresses and skirts, but I want to experiment more with longer, oversized dresses and skirts as well. I took inspiration from the Celine spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, which consisted of simple patterns, relaxed silhouettes with minimal makeup and accessories.

To create this look, I paired a navy blue, striped midi shirtdress that I purchased from JustFab with a pair of chunky heeled sandals from ShoeDazzle and thin gold hoop earrings. I feel like the collection was made for the urban business woman on vacation; relaxed with an edge. There were a lot of neutrals in this collection, which has been a big trend lately. I tried to incorporate these aspects with the simple pattern and darker color of the dress. I chose the strappy heeled sandals in order to resemble the strappy flats and chunky heels worn in some of the looks.

I liked that the styling of the models was simple. I think that allowed the clothes to really stand out and kept the overall look very sleek. I chose to keep my face clean and just add a pop of color with a matte red lipstick from Milani. As an ode to summer and to amp up the vacation vibes, I threw on a pair of tortoiseshell wayfarer sunglasses to complete my look. I really like how this look came together, and I especially like how quick and easy it was.
