STYLE GURU STYLE: A Fusion Of Styles

As an insatiable style collector, I thoroughly relish the development and evolution of fashion mechanisms. After all, for progress to be made there must be change. A purely monotonous fashion era would be utterly drab. That is why I always take great delight from commingling different fashion demeanors into a look that is undeniably unique and exclusive to my style.

Upon looking at the Akris pre-fall 2015 collection revealed during Paris Fashion Week, I was guilelessly inspired. Never had minimalism looked as glamorous as it did in these 50 looks. The collection carried a demeanor of active Zen, placid in its stony palette of gray, white and black with a substantial emphasis on sport, a sensible category for Kriemler to approach in this age of casual athleticism. He succeeded in doing so with an urban edge, polished to the apex of luxury. It transgressed the designer’s idealist, representative aesthetic to the forefront.

Although I always adore a neutral color palette, I’m not as enthusiastic about an entirely athleisure style. As a girl who loves flaunting femininity in fashion, I prefer something more dainty and cultivated. This was easily resolved with a sprinkle of Stella McCartney’s pre-fall 2015 collection. Her line was remarkably extravagant; there were hats in a woven synthetic fiber with a generous abundance of fresh wardrobe staples, from clean-cut tunics to tailored coats with bold details. The runway was scattered with loud, gold buttons, playful floral prints and metal embellishments. Most significantly, the straight lines and unadulterated silhouettes were profoundly impressive.

Using these collections’ essences for inspiration, I composed an exclusive ensemble with pieces from my own wardrobe. I stayed true to the primarily neutral palette, marked by blacks, whites and grays, contributing to the air of elegance that elevated the ensemble from a purely unadulterated base.  I composed the outer layer with a clean-cut jersey bonded vest from Topshop. This statement piece created a simple silhouette with modern, unfussy lines, which altogether evoked an effortless casualness that could easily be translated into evening wear. The structure of clean lines is carried off into a horizontally-striped shirt layered underneath. In order to remain steadfast to my more ladylike style, I dabbled with a generous amount of accessories by throwing in a black floral statement necklace, an embellished black hat, a pair of hipster sunglasses and a reflective polka-dot kate spade handbag.

Lastly, I adorned my wrists with a mixture of gold and rose gold elements, and boosted my rather petite height with a pair of nude flatforms. With all of these different elements melding into a singular ensemble, I was able to maintain an “athleisuric” style on a neutral color palette, dusted with a subtle sprinkle of femininity. With a minimalist-chic vibe, it presents a medium that does not sacrifice grace and delicacy for trimness and informality.
