STYLE GURU STYLE: A Chamb-Ray Of Light

Light cottons and linens in the summer are heavenly. Chambray has been flying off store shelves for two consecutive summers in a row and there is a reason why this fabric is incredibly on-trend for the warmer seasons. Loose, comfy and easily paired with anything, chambray is the perfect summer fabric to pair with loose linens for an effortless and beach-ready vibe.

Speaking of effortless and beach-ready, the J.Crew spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection combines elements of business casual, loungewear and bright colors to give us the perfect everyday summer look. Pulling from these separate details seen in each outfit of the lookbook, I created a neutral look using chambray with pops of both pastel and neon colors. Blues are the new neutrals and this J.Crew collection uses light wash denims as the perfect base tone for any outfit.

I used dark blue and black as my foundation colors for my look and added my chambray top as a detail. Chambray is a light fabric perfect for summer, but a great way to rework a long-sleeve chambray blouse is to leave it open over a crop top. Pairing airy fabrics together, I chose a pair of soft and cropped linen pants to match the rest of this easy look. A pair of colorful sneakers is extremely on-trend for this season and a perfect accent to a blue neutral outfit, I added these and matched them with a bright leather bag to brighten this summer look.

Be unafraid of wearing slouchy clothes that are perfect for lounging in. The J.Crew ready-to-wear collection is a perfect example of cleaning up comfy styles. Adding the right details can turn any outfit from indoors only to street style ready!
