STYLE GURU STYLE: '70s Textures and Prints

Gucci‘s spring 2015 ready-to-wear line was pure ’70s goodness. The earthy colors, rich textures and A-line silhouettes create a look that is bohemian, but still glam. The luxurious silk-printed dresses remind me of the iconic DVF wrap dress, while all the fur accessories invite an edge, worthy of Kate Moss, to the look. The ’70s is one of my favorite periods in fashion and definitely my favorite to see in film. Look to Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle or Kate Hudson in Almost Famous for further inspiration on that front.

One particular piece in this show that has definitely become very trendy again is the fur vest. I was a little reluctant when these first came in style but, to be honest, I love them now. They look great thrown on over a blouse or dress in a retro print. I’ve paired my vest with a dress, since I just love the print on this one so much, and some opaque tights that continue with the ’70s vibe of the outfit. You could also pair the vest with an A-line skirt in a nice suede or corduroy, like the ones seen on the runway. This look is all about creating interest through texture or pattern.

Some great finishing pieces for this look would be chunky clogs or a floppy hat. Remember to always have fun when you’re trying out new looks!

Get My Look: 1. A flowy dress in a bohemian print. 2. A fur vest. 3. Some opaque tights.
