STYLE GURU BIO: Taryn Hoffman

Hey everyone! My name is Taryn, I’m currently an undergrad at North Carolina State University in the College of Textiles, majoring in fashion and textile management. I’ve lived near Raleigh, North Carolina for just over 10 years now but was born in Canada’s capital, Ottawa.

I’m a true fashion and photography geek, so I am so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista’s team this semester as a Style Guru! I’ve loved fashion for as long as I can remember and it’s exciting I get to combine two of my passions, writing and photography with fashion so I can share with all of you what I love the most. My many interests include writing, traveling, animals, nature, theatre, quotes, cities, books, and tea.

I love to think of myself as a complex person with a thoughtful and intricate mind. I express myself in many different ways and my personal style is one of my favorites. My style is hard to define in one phrase. I really go for anything that catches my eye and excites me. My tastes range from preppy chic to retro punk and anything in between, but my clothes always represent myself. I tend to gravitate towards pieces that are different and showcase the complex person that I am.

To me, style should never fit into perfect little boxes. Style is like life, it’s messy and complicated to explain and an explosion of passion and interests. As long as you love what you’re wearing that’s the only thing that matters. Fashion exists to serve you, in order to make you feel confident and beautiful. So don’t worry about fitting into one type of style, because my favorite style is when multiple can come together to express one unique individual.

In this outfit, I am wearing one of my favorite Portofino shirts from Express. Then I layered up with my new vest, which can also double as a cape and added a flashy and modern necklace from Charlotte Russe. The final piece of the look are my thigh-high suede boots from Nordstrom Rack. I am in love with these boots. I’ve been looking for a pair exactly like this for almost two years. But, my searching has definitely paid off.

I hope you all enjoyed the look and I can’t wait to share more styles I love with all of you. If you want to keep updated on my posts and style, follow me on social media because I’d love to hear from you.
