STYLE GURU BIO: Sydney Ford

Hey there! I’m Sydney Ford. I am a sophomore at the University of California, Santa Cruz studying psychology and linguistics. The Santa Cruz fashion scene is super funky, so I am ecstatic to bring that style to you Fashionistas!

I started to become interested in fashion in the beginning of high school. My style was always switching up, but the color black always stayed consistent! During my junior and senior year of high school, I was involved in Nordstrom’s fashion board, and ever since that program, it has totally changed my outlook on fashion! Although designing clothes would be amazing, I’ve never had the best artistic skills, so buying and styling clothes is my specialty.

My style now is constantly changing between grunge, bohemian and a classic simple look. My style is influenced by Vanessa Hudgens because she has such a laid back, gypsy-like style. I am constantly checking out blogs, Instagrams of different celebs and Fashionistas and searching for new brands and online stores.

I grew up in Sacramento and now being in Santa Cruz, I’ve never had to endure extremely cold temperatures, but I love layering and being bundled up. My closet is filled with beanies, bold necklaces, dark colors and plenty of chunky sweaters. Winter always seems to be my favorite season because I get to wear a majority of the best clothing items. You can also find me wearing boots during every season because they seem to always bring an outfit together!

This outfit is a simple winter outfit that I could wear in any mild winter conditions. These black high-waisted jeans are my favorite from Topshop, that I have had for years and can’t seem to get rid of. The gray loose T-shirt is a staple that I found at Gap on sale! My long cardigan was also found on the sale rack, but at Urban Outfitters. My mom and I fight over this cardigan all throughout winter because we love wearing it with our dresses and jeans! I’m wearing my favorite boots, my metallic Dr. Martens. I bought them from Nordstrom as an impulse decision, but I am so happy because I wear them almost every day. This bottletop-designed necklace is a fun looking accessory that I found at J.Crew! And last, my black felt hat that makes most of my outfits complete! See you soon my fellow Fashionistas!
