STYLE GURU BIO: Stephanie Mungroo

Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Stephanie Mungroo and I just finished my sophomore year at Binghamton University. I am a business administration major with concentrations in consulting, finance, leadership and marketing. Although I am not pursuing my love of fashion through my education, I am ecstatic to be a Style Guru this summer.

Whether we like it or not, how we look and how we dress affects how we are perceived by others. Business school is all about dressing to impress. This means business professional, business casual, neat casual… *yawn*. However, I learned from my mom that appropriate does not mean boring. Your outfit is your visual resume. What makes you memorable? I love letting my individuality show through my sense of style. I dress to impress myself first, both in and out of the business world.

I always advise people to be happy rather than what was deemed “in” or well-dressed. You’re never fully dressed without a smile, right? As Alber Elbaz said, “Pure, intense emotions. It’s not about design. It’s about feelings.” My style, like my emotions, is always changing.  Take today for example: I wore a brightly colored maxi skirt, a black lace crop top I picked up while thrifting and my mom’s Coach bucket hat.  Tomorrow I might be seen wearing jeans and a simple tunic. Despite the occasion, accessorizing has always been absolutely essential for me. I will never leave the house without vibrant earrings, a hat or my latest obsession – a body chain.

I am looking forward to the style inspirations I’ll find this summer and I cannot wait to share my semester with you!
