STYLE GURU BIO: Sophia Giacobetti

May 29th, 2015 at 2:00am

My name is Sophia Giacobetti and I am your trendsetter reporting from New York City, the city that never sleeps! Between finishing up finals and planning summer festivities, I am ecstatic to finally be a part of the CollegeFashionista team and express my sense of style!

Acquiring a love for fashion and business at a young age, I knew I was destined for the fashion industry. Having a huge ambition to become a successful businesswoman, I was always involved in some sort of volunteer opportunity or internship. In the past I have interned at Bottega Veneta in their communications department where I managed samples to and from leading media outlets, monitored credits and features in print and online.

I also interned at Moschino in their New York City showroom where I maintained the showroom, assisted in choosing top looks from each collection and styled models during appointments. Gaining knowledge of different outlets within the fashion industry has helped me better understand what I want my future goals to be. Each internship has taught me valuable lessons such as hard work pays off, ask as many questions as you may have and take initiative.

Style is eternal, so I can confidently say I am a huge advocate in believing that you are what you wear! Staying on trend is something that I love to see people experiment with and living in New York City I definitely see a lot of this. Monochromatic looks, kimono style trench coats or finding a way to wear sneakers outside of the gym are all innovative approaches to leave your street style mark.

With this being my first time as a Style Guru, I have a styling suspicion that I will make some amazing fashion discoveries this summer. I look forward to reporting my street style finds each week and I hope my posts encourage readers to try something new. What I hope trend setters will take away from my posts is a chance to step out of their comfort zone and expanding their closet!
