STYLE GURU BIO: Shey Aponte

Hola, my name is Shey Apone and this is my third semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I attend Ithaca College and I am a junior Integrated Marketing Communications major with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. This semester I will reporting from the cobblestone streets of the picturesque fairytale that is Prague. Many of you probably don’t know, but Prague has a major fashion scene that caters to the casual but ultra feminine style that many fashionistas encompass. Europeans are all about comfort—but not your average sweatpants and T-shirt comfort—but that Euro sleek and stylish comfort. God forbid you ever see these Prague Fashionistas walking around in leggings!

But moving on. We can talk about Prague another day! A little more about me—my style is constantly evolving. I can’t really describe it in one word and that truly is the beauty of it. If I could only describe my style in one word, I would be defeated and left to rethink the whole purpose of how I put myself together each morning. What I love about clothes and getting dressed is being able to step out of my comfort zone a little bit. It’s easy to remain complacent with the average routine look but there is nothing worse for me than looking like everyone else. Sure, there are trends that catch on and one day you wake up, turn around and find that suddenly everyone is wearing the same exact pair of shoes. BUT, it’s all about how you differentiate those pieces that are trending to reflect your own individual style. As of lately, I’ve been obsessed with sneakers, adidas in particular. Their sneakers are always on trend and look great with everything!

In these photos I’m seen freezing my toes off in an oversized T-shirt dress placed over a pair of loose black shorts. I decided to add an element of grunge to this look with my Topshop leather jacket. To top it off, I paired this outfit with some metallic sandals that help take my look from day to night.

Czech me out this semester as I report LIVE from Prague!
