STYLE GURU BIO: Shelby Ianniello

Hi! I’m Shelby and I am going to be a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the fall. This is my second term writing for CollegeFashionista and I am so excited to return as a member of the team. I am back and better than ever, taking inspiration from my past and present experiences to provide RAD tips for those who love brand names at a lower cost.

My college career has not only helped my growth in academics, but also in personal branding. After putting much thought into it, my style can be described in three simple words: black, white and denim. I like to think of my wardrobe as a little grungy-chic, and it could easily be mistaken for a ’90s lookbook. Ripped jeans, chokers and graphic T-shirts are a few of my favorite things.

In one short year away from CollegeFashionista, I interned for a Project Runway designer, traveled the world and moved to New York City for the summer. Studying abroad in Rome gave me an inside look into one of the largest powerhouses of fashion in the world. Where I learned to adopt leather as an every day staple piece. I even experienced my first red carpet event at the Fendi inauguration located at the the flagship store in Rome’s center. Although I’ve always had an appreciation for fashion, my abroad experience confirmed it and has set my future in motion.

As my last year of college approaches, I have started to think about where I want to be when I move onto the real world. My time in the big apple has just begun, but I have a feeling that it’s where I’ll stay to discover my place in fashion. I hope to be an editor or creative director for an american fashion magazine one day. Specifically Vogue if the opportunity rises, but I’m not picky.
