STYLE GURU BIO: Seimi Park

Hey everyone!  I’m Seimi Park, a rising freshman at Swarthmore College, a small liberal arts school just outside of Philadelphia.  I plan on double majoring in political science and economics to one day pursue a career in law.  This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I absolutely cannot wait to see what the upcoming months have in store for us!

Born in the fashion capital of New York City to a mom who made and designed all of her own clothing, I pretty much grew up around fashion.  A vast majority of my childhood years were spent in my mother’s wardrobe, trying on clothes that were much too “grown-up” for me.  While fashion was nothing more than a way to pass time during my youth, I grew to love it more and more as I got older.  It was the idea behind each article of clothing that I loved—the sleepless nights of brainstorm and collaboration that went into creating the perfect article of clothing.

My personal style is always evolving and I tend to dress according to what I’m feeling on that given day.  I like to stick to simple pieces, like these boyfriend jeans and this plain black tank top, and choose to focus on making my outfit unique with different accessories, like lace-up heels and jewelry. I spend more money on wardrobe essentials that I know I’ll get wear out of, while most of the trendier pieces in my wardrobe are thrifted.

In my free time, I can be found editing stories for my school newspaper, working on my clothing business (homihadesigns.com), or relaxing at the beach with my friends.

Street style is highly influential in my everyday fashion choices and I love seeing how my peers express themselves through what they wear, so I knew the Style Guru program would be perfect for me!  Here’s to making this semester the best ever!
