STYLE GURU BIO: Sara Erlichman

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Sara Erlichman and I’m so excited to start my first semester writing as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this fall. I just moved to New York City at the end of the summer to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology for their fashion design program. I was born and raised in New Jersey, in a town where students didn’t tend to dress up for school which makes living new New York City even more exciting. I can’t wait to capture the different fashion trends on camera and write about them throughout the fall. Since I tend to be an introvert, I’m both nervous and excited that I get the opportunity to approach new people and talk about their style and get my picture taken as well for some of my articles.

I have always loved fashion. My mother can tell you countless stories of how I used to hide in the clothing racks of Nordstrom, and pick out the cutest matching outfit sets with my grandma from Macy’s and Stride Rite. My love for fashion seemed to dissipate a bit over the course of my “awkward stage” in middle school where I really didn’t care about what I was wearing at all. This, of course, changed when I took a fashion design class in my freshman year of highschool and started to watch Project Runway with my mother every Thursday night. This is also when I started to watch YouTube fashion and makeup videos quite religiously, like any other teenager across the globe.

My style has evolved drastically over the years. From wearing baggy sweatshirts and bootcut jeans in middle school, to patterned midi dresses and bralettes in my freshman year of college, I’d like to say my style changed for the better. In the summertime, you will always see me wearing anything flowy and breathable, because I really cannot stand the heat. I am proud to say that I own way too many striped and solid, neutral colored T-shirts for my own good. What can I say, they go with everything! I personally think that comfort is a really important aspect in any outfit, which is why I am wearing my favorite white sneakers with a midi dress from H&M. I tend to wear neutral colors, hence my accessories such as my bag and Fitbit.

There’s my little spiel about myself, can’t wait to write more articles throughout the fall!
