STYLE GURU BIO: Rachel Lewis

Hi, everyone! My name is Rachel Lewis and I am currently a sophomore at San Diego Miramar College. I am majoring in Marketing and upon graduating, plan to exercise my  major by running with it into the fashion industry. Once I transfer to university, I will also start a minor in Journalism. I hope to successfully showcase what my style is like, as well as the #RAD style I happen to see around my school!

Being born and raised in San Diego, I have always been a huge fan of the “effortless” look. I’ve also noticed that this look has become quite a bit more popular recentlyespecially with all the current festivals going on. Along with simplicity, I love wearing my blacks and whitesI think it puts a cool, edgy twist on the SoCal style. I can’t wait to see how my style is going to evolve once I transfer!

Unlike most people, my fashion journey did not, in fact, begin early: Back in 2012, I discovered Eleanor Calder, former girlfriend of One Direction member Louis Tomlinson, and current fashion blogger. Seeing her simplistic-yet-feminine outfits inspired me to dive into the fashion world and establish my own style and start to take up blogging. Through blogging. I discovered such a vast community of fellow fashion lovers!  Other style inspirations of mine include Gigi Hadid, Chrissy Teigen, Danielle Bernstein and so many more!

As of late, there’s nothing I love more than to pair some denim shorts, a bodysuit and layer on top of that. I am proud to say I have gladly hopped on the bodysuit bandwagonthey’re just so comfortable and versatile; it’s so easy to pair something together with a bodysuit, but still comes off like a complete outfit. Add some lace up sandals, and I’m ready to go! I also love my accessories, so wearing statement pieces makes up for the minimalist effort of the outfit!

I am so excited to continue this journey with all of you by showcasing the inspirations around me. I believe that CollegeFashionista will allow me to continue this journey with the amazing opportunities to work on my writing and journaling. This is such a great experience, and I can’t wait to be a part of this program!

In the words of Blair Waldorf: “Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be.
