STYLE GURU BIO: Penda Sarr

Hey guys, welcome to my style guru page!

My name is Penda. I was born in Dakar, Sénégal (a tiny country in West Africa) and moved to New York about 10 years ago. I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto pursuing an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and African Studies.

Outside of school, I am also a style blogger and photographer. I’ve always liked fashion and the idea of using clothes, shoes and accessories as a way to define myself and step out of my comfort zone.

Currently living in New York and downtown Toronto, which are major go-to cities in terms of style, I am lucky to be constantly surrounded by individuals with an interest in fashion. Apart from America, I’ve also lived in the Middle East.

In terms of my personal style, I try to incorporate my multi-cultural background into my outfits. I generally fall under the preppy and chic category but I sometimes like to mix it up. The pictures in this post are the perfect example. I wore an outfit that creates both a casual and chic look. I did this by pairing wide-leg pants with cute sandals and a gold necklace to make a certain style statement.

When I’m not behind my computer screen writing essays, or viewing pictures of my favorite bloggers on Instagram, I like to go shopping, visit museums and my personal favorite: create outfits on the wonderful app that is Polyvore.

I hope to one day be a lawyer for haute couture brands. I think this would be the perfect career for me, as it would incorporate my two main interests: politics (which is intertwined with law) and fashion. I am so excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista community and I can’t wait to share my articles with you! I hope you’ll enjoy them.
