STYLE GURU BIO: Payton Evans

Hello fellow Fashionista/os! My name is Payton Evans and I will soon begin my sophomore year at the University of Iowa. What better way to kick off the summer than by joining the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru? I am currently working towards a degree in biomedical engineering on the pre-medicine track, which begs the question: what am I doing writing about fashion?

Even since my elementary school-aged dreams of becoming a fashion designer were laid to rest, fashion has held a great amount of importance in my life. If I weren’t slightly concerned with the financial stability of my future, I might just pursue it. That being said, it does make for a great hobby.

I consider myself to be a city girl in a small town, which is often reflected by what hangs in my closet. The majority of my fashion inspiration comes from the vast world that is the Internet: Pinterest, a variety of swoon-worthy Instagram accounts belonging to various fashion bloggers, you name it. Oh, and I couldn’t forget about the mounds of ELLE and Vogue taking the place of textbooks and making themselves at home on my desk. Meshing the fashion-forwardness of a city lifestyle with the simple ways of a corn-fed town in Iowa can be a little intimidating, but I think that’s part of the fun.

Being a student, it can be difficult to find that happy medium between looking put together and rocking the classic “just rolled out of bed” look when heading to class. For lazy days, I turn to staple pieces like these sporty sunglasses from Nordstrom, black Steve Madden slip-ons, snake print lululemon joggers and an adidas boyfriend T-shirt to create the perfect effortless, but trendy, combo.

I am so excited to be sharing with you the styles my fellow Hawkeyes sport around campus this summer!
