STYLE GURU BIO: Norah Murphy

June 2nd, 2016 at 2:00am

I started my first semester for CollegeFashionista in the winter of 2016 and I’ve learned and changed so much since then as I start my second semester as a Style Guru for the summer! It’s unreal how excited I am to share all of my favorite trends and styles that I pick up on this summer around my hometown.

Speaking of hometown, I’m from a small town in northern New Jersey where I’ve lived since I was three years old. I go to Parsons in New York to study fashion communication and I absolutely love it. It’s definitely a lot of work but that hard work and dedication pays off in the end more than I can explain. I just finished up an internship at Birchbox for their content and social media team which was an absolute blast; I learned so many valuable skills while I was there and met so many amazing and talented people. I’m currently an intern for The Newsette which is a daily mini-mag that is sent to your inbox every weekday morning! It’s been such a great experience working there already so I can’t wait to see how the rest of the internship goes!

As for myself personally, I like to keep things humorous and fun while also being insanely hardworking and busy. I’m a babysitter for almost 10 families (or as I like to say “part-time mom”), am an intern for CollegeFashionista and The Newsette and work at a small shop in the neighboring town but I still find time to spend with the people who mean the most to me: my friends and family. It sounds pretty generic but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.

I would describe my personal style as minimal and chic. I stick to a pretty basic color palette of white, denim blue and black with a few touches of gray, tan and camel. I know, it’s really insane and super unheard of, and by that I mean extremely common, but I like to put a twist on it. My blog, denimnwhite.com, is named after my style and you can clearly see this in my outfit here! The white off-the-shoulder top is representing the hottest “cold shoulder” trend that’s happening right now, and my torn-up boyfriend jeans are perfect for the heat even though they’re normal pant length. I matched these simple items up with some heeled sandals, a black bag, a pair of mirrored shades and a necklace that I NEVER take off.

I’m so incredibly excited to continue my time as a Style Guru this summer. Until next time, stay rad!
